Gabi Lisy

LMHCA

Hello! My name is Gabi Lisy, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate at Dayspring Behavioral Health in Issaquah. I recently graduated from Bastyr University and bring over three years of experience in the field of psychiatry outside of the United States. I support individuals ages 7 and above and can provide sessions in the Slovak and Czech languages if preferred. I have experience supporting individuals dealing with anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, life transitions, grief and loss, and identity development, including those exploring gender identity and expression. I provide affirming care for neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ individuals, honoring each person’s identity and lived experience.

How I help

As a person-centered therapist, my sessions are client-led—we go at your pace and meet you where you are. I view you as the expert of your own life, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and growth. My work is attachment-based and relational, emphasizing the importance of safety and authenticity within the therapeutic relationship to help you gain skills to create more meaningful connections in your life.

I integrate a variety of mindfulness-based techniques to help ease immediate distress and use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build distress tolerance and emotional regulation skills. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you challenge the beliefs that no longer serve you and create a more positive narrative. In addition, I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach that encourages acceptance of what’s beyond your control, connection with personal values, and helping you create the life you want to live. I tailor each session to your unique needs, and together, we’ll collaborate to find an approach that works best for you.

Diverse identities

I am passionate about supporting neurodivergent clients in cultivating self-acceptance, empowerment, and practical skills to navigate everyday challenges. I believe there is no single “right” way to be human. Neurodiversity is a natural and valuable part of the human experience. In our work together, you can expect a warm, affirming, and nonjudgmental environment where your voice and experiences are valued and respected.

Life transitions

Life transitions can stir up uncertainty, grief, and self-doubt. Changes such as relocation, becoming a parent, navigating a new career, or adjusting to a new stage of life can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Together, we’ll work on building psychological flexibility, self-compassion, and coping tools to help you move through change with more confidence and clarity.

Trauma

I work from a trauma-informed perspective, recognizing that past experiences can deeply influence how we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. In our work together, we’ll focus on building safety first, with a primary goal of rebuilding a sense of trust in yourself and your body. My goal is to help you process and move past the trauma, while honoring your unique story.

More About Me

In my free time, I like to read books and dive into research about human experience. I love spending time with my kids, ideally while baking treats and building with Legos. I enjoy running and playing video games to unwind after a long day.
