Brooke Ushka
MA, LMHC
Hi, my name is Brooke (she/her). I specialize in working with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, LGBTQIA+ issues, trauma, borderline personality disorder, neurodiversity, and relationship issues. I work with individuals 13 and up, couples, and families. I find great joy in helping clients develop insight and understanding of their unique situation, enrich the quality of their relationships, and build effective coping skills. The clients who find my sessions impactful tend to be open to practicing new things and can appreciate humor, curiosity, and direct communication.
Experience
My experience with adolescents and adults in higher levels of care with eating disorders has allowed me to provide individual, couple and family therapy. I hope to help folks coming from higher levels of care in an outpatient setting continue their recovery journey. With your permission, I will work with your other outpatient providers (PCP, MD, RD) to promote holistic wellbeing. I have also provided therapy in substance use facilities and a community clinic to support individuals and families as they navigated mental health concerns, identity exploration, and relationship issues.
How I Help
I strive to be authentic in the room with you so you can be too. I believe in embracing the uniqueness and identifying strengths of each person, regardless of their diagnosis. You are the expert on your own life. With each client and family, I assess your unique needs and utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Based Therapy (FBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Strength-Based and person-centered therapies.
More About Me
I am a huge animal lover with ferrets, cats, and dogs at home. In my free time, I enjoy going to dog parks with my husband and corgis, cooking, singing to music loudly in my car, playing video games and crafting. I hope to learn more about you!
