Katherine Yang

LMHCA

Hello! I am Katherine, a Licensed Mental Health Associate at Dayspring Behavioral Health. I work with clients ages 6 and up, including children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. I have a genuine passion for helping people navigate life's challenges in ways that feel genuine and empowering to them.

I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, self-esteem, identity concerns, emotional regulation, interpersonal difficulties, life transitions, and multicultural concerns. As a Mandarin-English bilingual counselor, I offer sessions in both English and Mandarin, and I bring a deep appreciation for the ways culture shapes how we experience and express ourselves. I believe every client is unique, and I approach each person with curiosity, warmth, and deep respect for who they are.

HOW I HELP

I work collaboratively with every client, tailoring my approach to what works best for them. I draw from IFS (Internal Family Systems), which helps clients explore the different parts of themselves with compassion and curiosity. I use CBT to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and DBT to build practical skills for managing difficult emotions. I also use ACT to help clients clarify what truly matters to them and take meaningful steps forward, even when things feel hard. For clients who have experienced trauma, I use a trauma-informed approach, including Trauma Narrative Therapy, which helps clients process and make meaning of their experiences at their own pace, in a safe and supportive space. I also frequently use psychoeducation and motivational interviewing to help clients better understand their experiences and connect with their own motivation for change.

CONNECTION

Every person has their own language, their own way of seeing the world, and their own story. Especially with younger clients, I start with a playful, curious approach — learning how they think, how they express themselves, and what matters most to them. Over time, this grows into a relationship where clients feel genuinely safe to open up, be themselves, and do the deeper work of healing.

MEET YOU WHERE YOU ARE

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I adapt my style, my pace, and my methods to fit each client. Whether you are a child who communicates best through play, a teen navigating identity, or an adult facing a major life transition, I meet you exactly where you are — without judgment, and with full respect for your unique experience.

STRENGTHS FINDER

I believe every person already has something powerful within them. A core part of my work is helping clients identify their existing strengths and use them as the foundation for growth. Rather than focusing only on what is difficult, we build from what you are already good at — so that the progress you make feels like yours, and stays with you long after our work together ends.

MORE ABOUT ME

Outside of the office, you can find me hiking in the summer, exploring beaches, and capturing moments through photography. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and love cozy moments at home with my partner and our adorable cat.
