Lucy Grenke
MA, LMHCA
My name is Lucy and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate at Dayspring Behavioral Health.
Who I Work With
I have experience working with a diverse range of individuals and mental health concerns. I enjoy working with adults who are adjusting to life transitions. Life changes involving work, school, relationships, loss, and more are interconnected with mental health and how we view the world. I am passionate about providing a comfortable space to process those changes and adjust to become your most authentic self. I have experience working with individuals who have a history of trauma and/or are challenged with the task of overcoming issues such as emotional regulation and codependency. I also work with children and teens managing anxiety, depression, and neurodiversity. Facing these challenges while dealing with the stressors of school, family, and building a social life can feel overwhelming. I believe working with parents/caregivers is crucial in learning how to best provide support at home. I work with parents to improve their understanding and communication with their child and work to build a relationship where the child feels they can communicate openly.
How I Work
In every session, I strive to meet clients where they are emotionally by using a person-centered approach. I use concepts from CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), and narrative therapy to help clients move through problems. I believe that better understanding our thoughts and how they inform behavior can help us to write our story and how we view ourselves. I work in collaboration with clients and tailor my approach to best fit their unique needs. I tend to work with clients on shifting perspectives, reaching goals and creating boundaries while learning to practice self-compassion. When working with children and teens, I use a mix of activity based skill building exercises and talk therapy. I also incorporate psychoeducation to help clients to better understand their emotions and work on building a variety of coping skills.
More About Me
In my free time I enjoy hiking, crafting, and spending time with my cats. I am originally from Minnesota, so I love the mild winters and rainy days in Washington! I also have a love for fresh seafood and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
